Hans Vermy is a

who loves puppets and cartoons and all misbehaving things that come alive!

as a Dramaturg I specialize in puppets and projections and dramaturgy around immersive audiences, game-play in performance, and breaking down ableist performance.

as an award-winning Film Maker I work on puppet/cartoon web series, short live-responsive animations, and projection design for live performance.

as a Writer I work on plays, puppet-shows, essays about performance, short films, and web series. 

The work of  dramaturg, writer, and film maker merge in my role as an Educator where I champion and practice interdisciplinarity with media arts; publish on theatre history and theory; and teach courses on Performances of Things, Theatrical Development with Digital Media, Global Theatre Histories, Script Analysis and Dramaturgy for Design, Power and Popular Culture, Women Writers and Performers of the Americas, Performance for Social Change, and Dramatic Writing.  I helped found the CSUSM theatre department in 2019 after earning my PhD in Theatre and Performance Studies from Brown University in 2014.
